Richard Matheson's I Am Legend

Welcome to my analysis of I Am Legend, and what it says about the meaning of humanity. There are many ideas that aid in the perception of what it means to be human, and focusing on the isolation, other, and Gothic genre add to the many contributing ideas of humanity. The driving force behind humanity is feeling, and we are able to see the creation of a new humanity through the vampires in the novel. Matheson is less concerned with the monstrous aspect and more concerned with what humanity means for the individual.

The blog created is meant to explore this idea of humanity, and to also incite the reader of the blog to come up with their own idea of what it means to be human. It will briefly look at the other editions, including movies/visual forms of the novel to connect and discuss in more detail what the meaning of humanity and life is.
